World Cup fears for Scots tourism - by Jane Candlish
Scottish football fans may not be going to South Africa for this year’s World Cup – but there are fears that Scotland’s tourism sector may also have a disappointing tournament. Highland Council has raised concerns that the month-long sporting event may have a negative effect on visitors to the region. A report says many people from England will stay at home during the tournament which runs from June 11 until July 11. Officials say this could have a negative impact on numbers of visitors despite a rise in the so-called “staycation”. Read more
